When I look back on all the places I’ve been to, Monument Valley always ends up being in my top 5 most memorable. When I first saw photos of this magical place, many years ago, I knew I had to visit. I’m a sucker for grand, natural landscapes, especially those in the raw desert.
For me, Monument Valley ticks all the boxes.
Once it was confirmed I would working in the US during the summer of 2015, I knew I had to make time for a road trip to Monument Valley. I didn’t know how I was going to get there or if it was even possible. But I made sure it happened! On my bucket list with Vegas, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, MV was there. And it’s actually very doable!
A lotttt of driving is involved, but if you can hire/own a reliable car then it’s worth it. When I started my road trip, from Phoenix airport, I drove 4 hours due north to Monument Valley. Then to the Horseshoe Bend and Grand Canyon from there.
I feel very lucky to have witnessed such an incredible place at such a young age. I will forever be telling stories of my great American road trip, and forever counting down the days until I can experience it all over again.
Given the fact that these photos are nearly 8 years old - I think they’ve aged pretty well! Enjoy!
